Arches New Resident Artist: Adrian Howells

Arches New Resident Artist: Adrian Howells

The Arches is proud to announce that Glasgow-based performer Adrian Howells will join us as Resident Artist in May, thanks to the pARTners Fund.

The two year residency, in association with Sense Scotland at TouchBASE, will enable Adrian, whose work is concerned with ideas of intimacy and vulnerability, to develop his practice through researching and networking with key adult learning disability and art therapy experts, to engage adults with complex learning needs who are isolated in society, and to provide mentoring for emergent artists.

We are also pleased to have received Made In Scotland funding to present two of Adrian’s shows at the Edinburgh Festical Fringe this August. Join Adrian at the last dance of yet another wedding disco in his new performance May I Have The Pleasure, which uses autobiographical anecdote, original home movie footage, timeless love songs and collective reminiscing to contemplate the irony of feeling isolated in the midst of a joyful communal celebration of ‘coupledom’.

In addition, The Pleasure of Being: Washing/Feeding/Holding allows you to surrender to an intensely intimate and profoundly nurturing one-on-one experience as Adrian bathes you in a luxurious bath.

Venues and dates will be announced soon: keep an eye on our website for full details.
