tidy carnage presents

“You know those moments when you are standing, staring, trying desperately to work out if you are, in fact, on the verge of waking up? Yeah, that’s what’s happening here.”

Fresh from performances at the Cupar Arts Festival and a critically acclaimed run at Exeter’s Bike Shed Theatre, tidy carnage are delighted to return to The Arches with dream//life – a charming, funny and sometimes bittersweet window into the dreams, memories, fantasies and realities of two people faced with their biggest struggle yet.

Using video, audio and object installation, spoken word, live music and physical performance, dream//life looks at the gap between our remembered past and our present tense. As the episodes unfold, it becomes increasingly unclear to whom these humorous, surprising or thoughtful moments belong. Are they shared memories, an individual’s fitful dream, or hopes for the future?

Developed in conjunction with The Arches, Ovalhouse, London and Bike Shed Theatre, Exeter.

“confidently choreographed… beautifully performed, tender, and expressive… [taps into] the hidden rhythms of a relationship as much as its explicit personality.”
