Third year students from the Contemporary Performance Practice course at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland are the latest to take on the Arches Cafe Bar Takeover challenge.

Over the past two years, the Arches have invited a range of artists to bring their unique vision to the building as part of The Arches Cafe Bar Takeover series. Experimenting with the design, decor and menu to create a unique new space in the cosy restaurant area, the artists also bring unique table top performances to a diverse audience, some of who may not have been otherwise introduced to their work.

The Into The New Takeover performance will take place on:


Thurs 21st Feb
Fri 22nd Feb

The audience will enjoy a delicious three course meal (for just £9.95) whilst taking in the performances. The installation then runs until the end of March.

Those who have taken up the challenge so far include Adrian Howells, Johnny McKnight, Fish and Game, Hole in my Pocket, Glasgow Youth Film Festival and Martin O’Connor.

The menu

£9.95 for three courses

Wild mushroom soup
Aubergine and garlic bruschetta with a balsamic glaze
Welsh rarebit served with dressed rocket

4oz rump steak served with skinny fries, chestnut mushrooms and a red wine jus
Smoked haddock, mussel and potato pie
Tempura vegetables served with marinated courgettes, giant cous cous, roasted cherry tomatoes and chive sour cream

Tea and biscuit cheesecake
Chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream
Cognac and apple jelly with sweet mascarpone
