The anCnoc Blackbox Graduate Visual Art Award

Sat 1 Jan - Tue 31 May 2011

The Arches is inviting submissions for the anCnoc Blackbox Graduate Visual Art Award. This is a new award aimed at giving graduates the opportunity to work outside of their normal practice and gain inspiration from the Arches’ multi-artform activity.

BACKGROUND //

The Arches is Scotland’s leading provider of support to emergent artists and performance practitioners, as well as one of the UK’s most exciting and vibrant arts venues. Amongst many other mentoring schemes and professional development projects, we currently help new artists through the Platform 18 scheme for new theatre makers, our annual festival of brave new work Arches LIVE and Artist in Residence and Company in Residence programmes. The anCnoc Blackbox Graduate Visual Art Award is the latest in addition to our continued programme of support.

THE PRIZE //

The winner will be awarded a residency at the Arches from July to August 2011, including work space, informal research opportunities and £400 to go towards the creation or development of work in this inspiring environment. The successful candidate will then exhibit in the Arches as part of Arches LIVE in September 2011. Previous winners include Anna Henson, Greg Grant and Georgina Porteous.
