The Arches Community Choir

The Arches Community Choir

Thu 28 May 2015 | 7-9pm | Suggested donation £3

Initially started as a fun way to get people together to sing some decent tunes, so far they’ve put their own spin on tracks by Blur, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Lily Allen, Erasure and Gossip, and performed in venues from The Arches to the City Chambers to T in the Park 2011 as Beyonce‘s support act (well, kind of…)

Please note: This will be the last rehearsal of this term – watch this space for an autumn term update soon.

Fancy getting involved?

Here are the answers to a few FAQs:

- Rehearsals take place every Thursday evening from 7pm-9pm, here at The Arches in our downstairs Practice Room.

- The choir is fully accessible, open to all and attended by a healthy number of energetic and wonderful people who love to be expressive with their voices. There are no auditions to get it- your are welcome to join any time.

- The choir is led by artists Eilidh MacAskill and Matt Regan, who are both very musically minded, highly skilled and a dab hand at multiple instruments.

- There is no set song style and the choir are happy to try anything, always adding their own twists.

- The remit is extremely relaxed and full of good humour, with a firm emphasis on fun. The group have developed and grown over the years and ages range from 18 to 40+.

- The choir is not geared for professional singers, but rather peopled by those with a love of letting go and feeling part of a creative group, empowered by what they sing.

- The sessions happen every Thursday and, while there is no set commitment, the more you can come to, the better your experience will be.

- A weekly donation of £3 is suggested for joining the choir- this is to pay for Eilidh and Matt’s time and for props and costumes. Please check out our Arches Community Choir DONATE page, where you can contribute at any time.
