An interactive light and video installation for toddlers by award-winning artist Rachel Davies.

Children begin their adventure in the near dark, armed with torches. A flight-footed guide leads them by way of animated pebbles to cinematic tents and a smouldering campfire, whilst a magical cave and beanbag hillside lie waiting, complete with crawling ladybirds and illuminated switches which have the power to control the weather over the campsite. Over the twenty minute period, a canopy of sky shifts from dawn to dusk, ending with a mesmerising full moon through which dancers can be seen.

Originally created at Sadler’s Wells, The Light Garden is an innovative and exciting interactive video environment for young children and their families; an indoor experience in which one can play with the spectrum of the natural outdoor world, from the tiniest of insects to the giant universe of weather.

Recommended age: 18 months – 2 years.

“Our girls really loved changing the weather conditions and hiding in the tents with the lamps – brilliant. A very relaxing experience for parents too”

“I liked the torches and the clouds in the sky”
Phoebe, aged 3
