The Love Club: International Unemployment Day

Tue 6 Mar 2012 | 8pm-10pm | £4 (suggested donation)

proudExposure‘s Love Club returns to the Arches foyer for International Unemployment Day.

Wikipedia: International Unemployment Day (March 6, 1930) was a coordinated international campaign of marches and demonstrations, marked by hundreds of thousands of people in major cities around the world taking to the streets to protest mass unemployment associated with the Great Depression.

Sound familiar? Let’s party like it’s 1930, and celebrate our dirty financial state. Let Love Club usuals Julia And The Doogans serenade your broken bank balance, witness Wall Street witticisms thrown from Amanda Monfrooe and gasp as dole-queue, curb-side, trailer trash, stock-market crash survivor Markus Makavellian facilitates your evening’s journey into insolvent oblivion…

Hosted by infamous New York performance artist Markus Makavellian (“a glittering colossus” – The Metro), The Love Club is a wonderfully relaxed evening of tea, cake, music, spoken word and knitting, celebrating a different occasion each month. There are no tickets, but you can offer a suggested donation of £4 on the door for the artists taking part.
