After the storming success of his remixes of Destiny’s Child’s Say My Name and Mariah Carey’s Touch My Body, which saw his sparse style strip back classic R&B production to its bare bones and gain over 2m YouTube views in the process, Cyril Hahn‘s sharp rise to acclaim shows a current appetite for experimentation within R&B. Influenced by post-rock bands like Explosions In The Sky and folk stalwart Bonnie Prince Billy as much as modern rap, it’s easy to see that what drives the Swiss-born and Canada-based producer is the emotion of a track: layering sensual, dreamy sounds into one another with the lightest of vocals touches for maximum impact. In enjoying such success, he fits neatly alongside the likes of How To Dress Well and Jacques Greene in his ethereal style, and is sure to delve deep with his Arches debut.

Alongside Cyril Hahn, Canadian producer and DJ Ryan Hemsworth will also make his Arches debut. As one of the immaculately curated WeDidIt crew, Hemsworth has worked closely with a new generation of experimental underground rap – such as Oakland duo Main Attraktionz and up-and-coming rapper Deniro Farrar – and showcased his love for pop in remixing everyone from Grimes to Frank Ocean, Lana Del Rey to Kanye West. Living somewhere between rap, R&B and pop, Ryan Hemsworth’s minor-key mentality has seen his consistently excellent (and rapid) output attributed to a new, experimental production technique in R&B-influenced electronica. After praise for his slew of mixes for everyone from FACT to The FADER, his Still Awake EP this year, and with a new album for Deniro Farrar due out on Diplo’s Mad Decent label due in the near future, Ryan Hemsworth is set to be one of the most talked about names around.
