Pressure celebrate Soma Records’ 20th birthday party, featuring:

Funk D’Void (live)
Silicone Soul
Gary Beck
DeepChord (live)

The Soma party continues at full pace this September with the birthday collective marking their 20th anniversary, close to home at the Arches in Glasgow. Pressure, the night hosted by Slam for a large part of Soma’s history, promises to be a fantastic representation of the label’s output with Slam, Funk D’Void, Silicone Soul, Gary Beck and Deepchord performing, all of whom have been some of the most important artists, both old and new, to have been on Soma over the years and will certainly enliven the Arches on 30th September. The combination of these multi-skilled artists should prove to be an incendiary mix with each adding their own special, inimitable sound to proceedings.

Lars Sandberg a.k.a Funk D’Void, DJ, producer and fan of all things electronic, will be exhibiting his myriad skills as he performs a live set. Joining him in performing live will be Detroit dub techno producer DeepChord, who flies in from his native USA to perform. Both will be giving those present an insight into their profound musicality as they stretch their own productions through the genres. DeepChord’s highly anticipated follow-up release Hash-Bar Remnants Part 2 is released on Soma barely a week after Pressure on Oct 10th.

Adding sonic artistry and a deep, powerful edge to Pressure will be legendary duo Silicone Soul, major contributors to Soma’s history of progressive sounds. Their influence will leave an indelible mark on the Arches as it has done on many previous occasions. Their output is duly noted by Soma, who at the beginning of next year will be releasing an album of Silicone Soul material, remixed by others and by the duo themselves.

After travelling the world, innovative DJ and producer Gary Beck will have slightly less distance to travel for Pressure, being himself a native Glaswegian. His vibrant and driving sound always plays well amidst the industrial rumblings of Glasgow.

And, of course it would be churlish not to mention hosts, initiators and Glasgow legends Slam, without whom the landscape for the previous 20 years at Soma, and in all manner of electronic scenes throughout the world, would be very different. This hometown gig will see them in their element.

All in all, this very special Pressure is going to be one fantastic night, which in turn is one fantastic advert for all the work that Soma have done over the years.
