Shan•gri-la (shnggr-lä)
n.
1. An imaginary remote paradise on earth; utopia.
2. A distant and secluded hideaway, usually of great beauty and peacefulness.
ShangriLa is a clubbing experience like no other. Every Wednesday night, Glasgow’s infamous underground railway arches will be transformed into a treasure chest of surprises where anything goes, youth is eternal, and drinks prices are eternally low…
With entertainment and décor inspired by festivals across the globe and some of the hottest DJ names around providing the soundtrack, each week will offer a completely different experience.
THE MAIN STAGE
First up on The Main Stage is residents Vilmos and pals. This lad’s a busy man – playing parties all over Glasgow, namely The Shimmy at Saint Judes. Heres a wee mix from Vilmos.
THE DOME STAGE
Boogaloo. These lads have been throwing it down all over the shop lately. Catch this dance every week in The Dome stage. If you want more they have a monthly weekend bash up the other end of the town – generally taps aff.
THE LIVE LOUNGE STAGE
The place everyone pretends they hate – but you will find them in there signing along to one of numerous acoustic numbers dancing on the tables. Hosted by Duffy the local hero.
“An anything-goes attitiude perfect for channelling the spirit of 90s rave.” – The List, Glasgow’s Best Student Nights (2014)

As Scotland’s original superclub, the Arches is the stuff of clubbing legend. There really is no other venue like it in the world.
Repeatedly voted one of the top 100 clubs in the world in DJ magazine, the industrial brick arches are home to a continuous roster of the world’s most in demand DJs and producers from across the dance spectrum, whether it be minimal techno, big bassline electro, hardstyle, deep house, UK bass, dubstep or trance.
With a Funktion 1 soundsystem and three fully stocked bars spread over six subterranean arches, the space is transformed each weekend depending on the faces behind the decks. From huge, sell out nights with platinum selling Ibiza trendsetters such as Alesso and Laidback Luke or legendary acts such as Fatboy Slim, Carl Cox and Jeff Mills, to the hottest, most-hyped names on the dance scene’s lips – from Jamie Jones and Nina Kraviz to Jackmaster and Omar S, ours is one of the most diverse club programmes in the city.
As well as the Arches’ own club nights, which have recently brought the likes of Hot Creations label, Madeon and Chase & Status to the venue, for many fans the Arches is synonymous with either of its two biggest nights, Pressure and Colours.
Slam have now been playing and promoting in the Arches since 1992 with their monthly techno and house night Pressure celebrating it’s 16th anniversary in November 2014. Normally taking place on the last Friday of the month, Pressure sees the biggest names in the game playing regularly, with guests like Richie Hawtin, Ben Klock, Laurent Garnier, Joris Voorn, Maya Jane Coles, Pan-Pot, Chris Liebing, Dave Clarke, Len Faki, Dubfire, Gary Beck, Visonquest, Heidi, Vitalic and Green Velvet joining resident DJs Slam in recent times.
Scotland’s biggest dance promoter, Colours regularly bring the biggest and best names in big room house, tech-house, electro and trance to the venue, with recent guests including Alesso, Otto Knows, Laidback Luke, Dannic, Hardwell, Markus Schulz, Showtek, Gareth Emery, Nervo, AN21 & Max Vangeli, Nicky Romero and many more.
