Hernan Cattaneo // Hell residents

Fri 1 Apr 2011 | 11pm-3am | £15 + bf

International DJ Hernan Cattaneo cites his first introduction to dance music as the time his friend picked up some Chicago house vinyl from a New York record store in 1987. As Frankie Knuckles’ star ascended, Buenos Aires-born Cattaneo began to similarly experiment with dance music, taking the energy of European electronic music and blending it with the soul of North American music to create the deep, tribal, progressive and funky house that has cemented his reputation as one of the finest DJs of his genre.

His residency at Clubland Pacha in Buenos Aires got him quickly recognised. He soon became associated with the likes of Sasha, John Digweed and Danny Tenaglia, going on to become resident at Cream clubs in South America, Liverpool and Ibiza and signing to Oakenfold’s label Perfecto. His mix for the highly regarded Renaissance series got him a place at no.6 in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs in 2004, with Cattaneo asked to headline the 50th album celebration record in 2009.
