The Arches and the Berkeley Suite present

Tim Sweeney (at the Berkeley Suite)

Fri 9 Nov 2012 | 11pm-3am | Free before midnight | £5

The Arches are delighted to bring Beats In Space founder and genre-busting DJ Tim Sweeney to the Berkeley Suite this November.

With his name now practically synonymous with Beats In Space, the radio show and now record label he founded as a student at the University of New York, it’s difficult to tell which has become the more sought-after brand. Beginning as a show on student radio, Sweeney’s genre-busting attitude soon had him moved from the small hours of AM to prime time FM, where he attracted an enviable international following as well as guests from Carl Craig to the Avalanches to Lindstrom and Prins Thomas.

A pressure to find new music for his show – whether old or new – soon turned into his own burning need for constant musical discovery, sculpting his record bag and making him into the in-demand DJ and producer he is today. It also blessed him with a career that reads like a dance-punk fanboy’s wet dream: touring with James Murphy, forming DJ duo T&T with Tim Goldsworthy, and of course, playing sax on the DFA remix of Radio 4′s Dance To The Underground.

With Beats In Space launched as a label in 2009, boasting none other than Tensnake as its first 12″ release, Tim’s reputation, schedule and record bag are ever expanding, not only in New York, where he still records his show every Tuesday night, but around the world, where thousands of fans are turning up at his parties and tuning in each week.

Join Tim and the Arches for a night of house, disco and electro in all their many shades.

N.B. This event takes place at The Berkeley Suite, 237 North Street, Glasgow, G3 7DL
