London-based sisters Colette and Hannah Thurlow, aka 2:54, are making one of the most talked-about new rock’n’roll sounds around.

Schooling themselves on the desert rock testaments of Kyuss and Queens Of The Stone Age, the name itself is a reference to ‘the moment it gets good’ in their favourite Melvins song. But 2:54 arrive amidst their own distinct mist of ideas, forging a sound that’s as haunting and ethereal as it is anthemic, with spectral melodies enveloping tombstone riffs and perilous walls of sound, drawing comparisons to the likes of  the xx, Mazzy Star and PJ Harvey

Live, the sibling duo are joined by a formidable rhythm section in Joel Porter and Alex Robbins, who’ve helped the band garner a reputation as one of the must-see new UK names, with a visceral, molten stage show. After a flurry of attention arriving in the latter half of 2010 – culminating in infamous tours with both Warpaint and Melissa Auf De Maur – the band are plotting huge things for 2011, with a debut single on the way, an album in the works, and extensive touring scheduled.
