American singer-songwriter John Grant comes to the Arches as part of Glasgay! festival following the release of his second album.

Frontman of 90s indie act The Czars, John Grant emerged from a dark period of drug dependency and deep depression in 2010 with his debut album Queen of Denmark.

Created with the help of devoted Czars fans Midlake, it is an extraordinary exploration of impossible love, near suicide and, ultimately, redemption, and a masterpiece of emotional song-craft. Echoing Jeff Buckley and Beach Boy Dennis Wilson, dusted with David Lynchian Americana and sci-fi metaphor, Grant crafts tales of his troubled gay childhood in a deeply religious family, and exorcises demons of both the body and the soul, all given magical life through his rich and effortless baritone.

Currently based in Iceland, his second album has seen him working with Iceland electronic act Gus Gus as well as Midlake, and will be released this autumn.
