A Storm Of Light

Tue 22 May 2012 | 7.30pm | £15 + bf

Stoner-doom-rock legends Sleep come to the Arches, Glasgow.

As possibly the ultimate stoner rock band, albums Sleep’s Holy Mountain (1993) and the epochal Dopesmoker (2003) were instrumental in ushering in a new stoner movement, using the sound cultivated by Black Sabbath and Blue Cheer in the early 70s and taking it to extremes never previously heard before. Following their split in the late 90s, member went on to enjoy further influential success in the bands Om and High On Fire. However, in 2009, the band reformed, performing at All Tomorrow’s Parties to a rapturous reception and continuing to tour sporadically, playing to devoted crowds worldwide.

Following an appearance at the London ATP I’ll Be Your Mirror festival alongside Slayer and The Melvins last year, the band now come to Glasgow as part of only a few UK dates on a European tour, with support from A Storm Of Light.
