Yves Lambert Trio

Sat 18 Jan 2014 | 7.30pm-10pm | £14 + booking fee

The Yves Lambert Trio play The Arches on Saturday 18th January as part of Celtic Connections festival 2014.

A central driving force in Québécois music for more than 30 years, accordionist and singer Yves Lambert – helmsman of La Bottine Souriante from 1976-2002 – continues to lead from the front in his powerhouse three-piece with multi-instrumentalists Olivier Rondeau and Tommy Gauthier. In Lambert’s words, “we play as a trio, but sound like a big orchestra.”

Opening the show, banjo and mandolin ace Damian Helliwell steps out from the Dàimh line-up to première his ambitious instrumental suite Metta, which pushes traditional music forms in exciting new directions.

Also featuring fiddler Eilidh Shaw, pianist Andy Thorburn, double bassist Jenny Hill and percussionist Donald Hay.
