Glasgow’s iconic multi-arts venue The Arches has launched a free Wi-Fi service, thanks to an organisational development grant from Amb:IT:ion Scotland’s Make:IT:Happen Fund. Theatre audiences, gig crowds and clubbers, as well as artists, conference delegates and Cafe Bar customers are now able to take advantage of free wireless internet throughout the building.
Due to the unique nature of the Victorian railway arches, getting wireless signal to every part of the building has been a significant task. Using Amb:IT:ion Scotland funding, access points have now been installed to cover performance spaces, dressing rooms, rehearsal rooms and public areas including the Cafe Bar and Restaurant.
The Wi-Fi connection will be invaluable for artists and performers, as well as being an important addition to the corporate events offer at The Arches.
Given the lack of mobile phone connectivity in some parts of The Arches, this could also spell the end of losing your friends on a night out!
