Arts Internship

What better place to do your internship than at Scotland's coolest arts venue?

If you want to gain valuable experience in the operation and administration of the Arches, whilst contributing to the day to day running of the venue, then this internship is for you. It could involve shadowing members of the team or carrying out specific projects on your own.

You must be available to work at least 4 days per week for a period of 3 months. 2008 internships start in early April, July and October.

Arts Internship Role Description :

Main Purpose of the Role
The role is designed for the volunteer to gain experience in the relevant aspects of management and administration, or in his or her chosen specialist area of the Arches, whilst contributing to the day-to-day running of the venue.

  • Core Duties of the Role
    In addition to assisting and work-shadowing in a chosen area, the role may include assisting with:

    - general office duties such as opening and distributing daily mail, daily collection, stamping and postage of mail at end of day, receiving and distributing other deliveries
    - the organisation of press packs and issuing press releases
    - the display and distribution of publicity material and weekly press coverage
    - compilation of monthly club listings
    - mailing out and delivering of flyers and other promotional material
    - sourcing and updating databases and mailing lists
    - the preparation and event management duties of arches events such as music gigs and clubs
    - sourcing and arranging best value travel and accommodation arrangements for music performers
    - maintaining and organising the archive store

 

  • The role will also involve:
    - a tailor made programme of assisting and work-shadowing members of the management team.
    - attending regular Arches team meetings
    - any other reasonable duties as requested by the Executive director or deputy

Hours Worked
This is a volunteer role for 30 to 40 hours per week over 4 or 5 days. A regular weekly pattern to be agreed with the Personnel Manager. 

Position in the Organisation
Reports to the Arts Administration Officer

Salary
This is an unpaid role. Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed, a staff meal will be provided when a full day is worked and complimentary passes to some Arches events may be provided.
