Music

The Glasgow Music and Film festival has now finished for its second year, ending on a high note with the screening of Mogwai's concert film Burning, followed by an exclusive DJ set. Amongst a host of music related documentaries and films, the festival also saw one of the first performances of Pere Ubu's new concert/radio play Pere Ubu: The Spectacle, Thomas Truax performing the music of David Lynch, and Zombie Zombie's much-anticipated tribute to the soundtracks of horror movie legend John Carpenter. See you next year.

ABOUT THE ARCHES: MUSIC

Roots Manuva at the Arches

Whilst the Arches is known first and foremost to many as a club and a theatre, in recent years the venue has gained considerable recognition as an important live music venue in the UK.  Our programme is diverse; offering something for people of all ages and tastes. The natural versatility of the Arches allows us to hold intimate, seated shows for cult artists such as A Hawk & A Hacksaw, Murcof and Max Richter, bigger gigs for international legends Toots & The Maytails and George Clinton and large scale, stage diving, sweaty rammies for Justice, MIA, The Pigeon Detectives, Calvin Harris, The Kooks, The Klaxons and Razorlight. This flexibility also lends itself well to multi-room, mini-festivals, most notably our ground-breaking Instal festival. Now in its 7th year, this annual festival of experimental music attracts audiences and performers from all over the world, such as The Boredoms, Sun City Girls and Keiji Haino.

‘A classical gig in the vaults of Scotland’s dance mecca might sound an odd prospect, but the Arches proved the perfect setting’ - Sunday Mail
